Cross stitch can be worked in a number of ways. If you work the stitch in a row rather than individually, you can complete a row more quickly.
First of all, sew a row of diagonal stitches. Once you’ve created your row of diagonal stitches, go back along the same row adding the cross going the other way.
So what you’re doing is adding a diagonal stitch going the other way over the top of what you’ve just done. When you’ve finished this, you should have a row of cross stitches.
