I'm sure we all know that mixing yellow and blue makes green, but how do you mix a bright green or an olive green?

To mix an olive green, choose a blue that’s closer to purple, such as ultramarine, and a yellow with a tinge of red, such as yellow ochre.

To mix a bright green, choose a yellow that doesn’t have any red added to it, such as lemon yellow and a blue that is further from a purple, such as cobalt or manganese blue.

You will see that this creates two very different greens. I recommend making swatches and taking notes of your colour mixing experiments and gradations of colour as I’ve done in this video.
